Safety and health management system
ISO 45001
What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001:2018 is an international standard for a health and safety management system
at work (OH&S). It replaced OHSAS 18001. By implementing the standard, you can protect the health, safety and well-being of your employees, visitors and anyone affected by your organization's activities. It is also a great way to establish legal compliance.
Setting up an occupational health and safety management system is more important than ever. Senior managers are now personally responsible for health and safety in their organisations. In addition, new sentencing guidelines introduced in 2016 resulted in harsher punishment for omissions. The standard provides protection for you, your employees and your organization. It is the best way to manage risk, avoid fines and reduce employee absenteeism. All this contributes to better business performance.
If you already have other management systems, setting up an additional one can be simple. The standard is based on Annex SL, which means that it has a common structure and many elements with other main standards. Thus, it integrates with other ISO management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001.
Why choose ISO 45001 certification?
The standard is adapted to almost any organization, of any size, in any sector. If you take safety seriously, and the law requires it, then you can benefit from implementing this occupational health and safety management system and securing Alcumus ISOQAR certification.
Certification shows that you follow international best practices and can be trusted to do business. This helps you get on "preferred supplier" lists. This is often a basic requirement when bidding for a new business, especially when bidding for work with larger organizations or the public sector.
Check if your ISO 45001 certificate is accredited.
Not all certifications are created equal. You need to make sure that your certificate is issued by an accredited body. A UKAS accredited certification body like Alcumus ISOQAR undergoes regular rigorous checks by the UKAS Accreditation Body to determine whether we are working to the highest standards.
This means that when you have a certificate from a UKAS accredited certification body, you can be sure of its value. Certificates issued by non-UKAS accredited bodies are often not accepted. UKAS accredited certificates are accepted worldwide as proof that you meet global standards and best practice.
